Frequently asked questions.

What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy is a personalised approach to improving your health and wellbeing through tailored nutrition and lifestyle changes. Instead of just treating symptoms, it focuses on uncovering the root causes of your health challenges. Using the latest high-quality research, nutritional therapy creates bespoke recommendations designed to restore balance and support your body’s optimal function. It’s about empowering you with the right tools to feel your best, naturally..

Who can benefit from nutritional therapy?

Nutritional therapy can support adults and children experiencing a wide range of symptoms, including digestive issues, fatigue, hormone imbalance, autoimmune conditions, skin concerns such as eczema, weight management, as well as overall wellness. It’s suitable for those wanting to address existing symptoms, prevent long-term health issues, or simply feel their best.

Please note that I am unable to work with clients who have or have previously had cancer or anyone with chronic kidney disease.

What happens during a consultation?

You’ll start with an in-depth health review, including your medical history and food diary. Together, we’ll explore your symptoms and goals, and you’ll receive a bespoke nutrition and lifestyle plan plus ongoing support as needed.

Do I need to prepare anything before my first appointment?

Yes! You’ll be asked to complete a health questionnaire and food diary ahead of your first session, so we can make the most of your consultation time.

How long do I need to see a nutritional therapist for?

The length of time depends on your personal goals and needs. Some people see improvements after one appointment, but most benefit from a programme with regular follow-ups for lasting results.

Can I have sessions online or do I need to attend in person?

Consultations are available online via video call, making support flexible and accessible. If you prefer to meet face to face, this can be arranged at The Tower Clinic in Cookridge for a small cost.

Will I have to take supplements?

Not necessarily. Supplements are only recommended if needed and are always tailored to your unique requirements. The priority is always whole-food nutrition first.

Is functional testing required?

Functional testing can help guide recommendations for complex or chronic concerns, but it’s not always necessary. It’s your choice, and all options will be discussed with you first. Tests include DUTCH testing, Organic Acid Test (OAT) and comprehensive gut testing. All tests are an additional cost to consultation fees.

Is nutritional therapy the same as seeing a dietitian or nutritionist?

Nutritional therapists are trained to take a holistic, personalised approach, often using the functional medicine model. The approach may differ from what you’d receive with a registered dietitian or nutritionist, and focuses on addressing the root cause of health concerns.
